Okie, so, if you have not heard Pat McGrath, the most influential makeup artist in the WORLD, has just stolen the self-made billionaire title from Kylie Jenner, as her global cosmetic line is now worth $1 billion.
This matters because…
It is reported that Pat came from a humble upbringing, not with a silver spoon in her mouth, & actually worked her way through the fashion and beauty industries, that got her to where she is today.
AKA, she is SELF-MADE.
But why do we need to talk about this?
Well, because that article, here, Forbes wrote on how Kylie Jenner became a “self-made” millionaire in under three years is about to be put in its place.
I do not know about all of you, but after learning about Pat McGrath’s empire, I have been wondering why Forbes did not write an article on how she built her, now, billion-dollar company in just 2 years?
Here is my answer that is not only my formulated opinion but actual facts. I hope you are taking notes.
Now, it should not be a surprise that Forbes intentionally did not celebrate this makeup maven, Pat McGrath, because she is a successful BLACK woman. That is right, she is BLACK.
Again, why do we need to talk about this?
Well, because I personally feel, like several people in this country, as though there is still an unfair or unjust representation of blacks in society, as we see a more negative representation of blacks than positive.
Now, I think Forbes could have written about how close Ms. McGrath was and how she actually is a SELF-MADE billionaire versus Kylie Jenner, especially due to the fact that McGrath is actually SELF-MADE! But they, OF COURSE, made the decision not to, in efforts of protecting white people, white privilege, and white status.
PSA: My goal is not to belittle or demean Miss Jenner at all! I am simply speaking the truth.
However, we, fortunately, live in this time, where social media exists, in which many people sought to discuss this great racist mess.
Although I am not too fancy with social media, I took to it on this matter as well and wrote an article, here, to correct Forbes as well as many other ignorant and pretentious minds out there. Hence, why I am also following up with this post.
But honestly, I am not surprised, at all, by all of this as this is WHITE America. White America in that the systems built in this country were made to protect, uplift, and support white people.
You don’t believe me? Reread up on American history. That is the undeniable truth.
Otherwise, it is time to wake up and recognize that white privilege exists and if you are white you have to and most definitely should… already know that!
Like, are we blacks THAT intimidating and “dangerous” to white people’s confidence, ego, and net worth to really take such term, self-made, and paint it on someone who is most definitely not?
I am insulted and offended.
All-embracing, all I want to say to you, white USA, is that you need to get it together already. There is nothing wrong with recognizing your white privilege and the impact it has on your life and the destruction it has on other lives, especially in efforts to transform society for the better. In fact, that is the least you can do as we are supposed to be “united.”
We, BLACK people, are here to stay. We are not going anywhere… Like, ever!
Therefore, to all my black ladies, out there, if you have dreams and goals that you wish and hope to accomplish, keep climbing and NEVER EVER stop. Shooot, I know I am not! There is much MUCH more of Innocently Fierce to come. Stay Tuned 😉
Cheers to black success!
